Message from Dining Services – October 6, 2021

There is a national labor crisis affecting many industries,  — but especially the hospitality industry. Unfortunately, the community of Washington University is not exempt from this shortage. Dining Services is fortunate enough to have some tenured employees who have returned this year to provide the campus community with exceptional food and service. However, well-deserved retirements, ongoing COVID concerns, and a bevy of other variables has left the team far from complete — despite above average compensation packages. Our team continues to do all they can to attract, recruit, hire, train, develop and retain a strong work force. While shorthanded, however, some Café options might not be offered and restocking might take a bit longer. We recognize that this can be frustrating and inconvenient and appreciate your patience. Please know that our committed WUSTL Dining staff are doing all they can to serve you as quickly and helpfully as possible.

Challenges aside, our commitment to providing each student with the food, service, and hospitality they want and need remains the same.
