Faculty & Staff Plans

Your Faculty and Staff Account includes a university meal plan/campus spending account, which means you don’t have to carry cash to eat on campus!

This meal plan includes the benefit of purchasing food and beverages, exempt from sales tax, in dining locations on campus. Select the features you want to include and build the plan that fits your personal preference: declining balance, automatic payroll charge or a combination of both. Enroll and manage your account online with HRMS. In minutes, your card can be activated. Once your card is activated, you may easily pay for food items without the hassle of cash.

Purchases with your WUSTL ID Card are tax exempt (an average savings of approx. 7%) at the following locations:

  • Danforth Campus dining locations
  • North Campus & West Campus cafés
  • Three Medical School locations

How does it work?

You can purchase points for your faculty meal plan through payroll deduction in HRMS or at the Office of Residential Life. All Dining Services locations will accept your card.

Declining balance feature

The declining balance feature is a prepaid option. Choose an amount of points (1 point = 1 dollar) to be placed on your card. Points are deducted at the register when food or beverage is purchased. Points may be added to your account either by payroll deduction through HRMS Self Service or by check or cash at the Office of Residential Life.

Charge feature

Set your own personal spending limit. Select the spending limit (per pay period) that you are comfortable with. Present your card at the register each time you make a food or beverage purchase. Your total will be tallied against your personal spending limit balance. Each pay period, your purchases will be deducted from your paycheck and your limit will be reset. Your personal spending limit may be changed online through HRMS Self Service.

Use both features

If you prefer to use the declining balance feature, but wish to have a charge feature available, simply activate both features. In this case, points are deducted from the declining balance first. If your points are depleted, the charge feature is activated similarly to “overdraft protection.”
