Student Meal Plans 2008-09

Washington University's meal plans operate on an "all points" or "declining balance" basis. This offers students a retail based program, providing more flexibility and spending options.

Meal points are allocated on a semester basis. This assists students budget their meal plan points. Points not used during the Fall Semester will carry-over to the Spring Semester. Points not used by the end of the academic year will be forfeited.Students needing to purchase additional points may do so at any time during the year at The Office of Residential Life, or on-line through WebSTAC.

*The Bountiful Plan 3200 points $4512 $5192

*First Year students are required to purchase no less than 2780 points (the Square Meal Deal). For Residential students, the Square Meal Deal has proven to be our most popular plan, that meeting the dietary needs of most students.

Points may be used at any WU Dining Services location on campus. Points may be used for food and beverage purchases only in Bear Mart and Millbrook Market. Students needing to buy additional points may do so at any time during the year. The sale of points between or among students is limited to a one-time transaction with a $150 minimum and a $15 transaction fee. Students may still purchase food or beverage items for friends with their own meal card.

An evening dinner and weekend brunch "all-you-care-to-eat" option is offered in Center Court on the South Forty. Al a carte pricing is in effect at all other campus dining facilities. At The Village, there will be an evening value meal option.


In addition to the standard residential meal plans, the University requires meal plans for students living in fraternity houses or off-campus.

(***Off-Campus Plan is required for all students who live in Millbrook Apartments, University Apartments, off-campus, or at home.)


Student Meal Plan Descriptions

Grab-a-Bite Plan Designed for the student who is a very light eater, who has a job or internship off-campus, or who because of documented medical reasons, may be significantly limited in what he or she can eat. (Note: Not available to first year students.)
 
Meal Manager Plan A basic meal plan that will best meet the needs of students who eat a couple of meals a day and an occasional snack in the University's Dining Facilities. (Note: Not available to first year students.)
 
Square Meal Deal Plan The most popular meal plan among resident students! Sufficient for most of those who want to grab something light for breakfast, have a quick lunch, and have dinner with their friends.
 
Meals Plus Plan This plan will best suit the needs of those students who want sufficient meal plan credits to provide for three meals a day, snacks and/or beverages in-between, and still enough credits to take advantage of special menu items or stock up on favorite items from the residence hall convenience stores.
 
The Bountiful Plan Some students require more calories due to their involvement in athletics or because they maintain a very active life-style. This plan may be for you if you regularly enjoy breakfast, a mid-morning snack, lunch, an afternoon "Smoothie", dinner and a late-night snack.
 
Kosher Plan Two dining facilities on campus are under rabbinic supervision from the Vaad Hoeir of St. Louis. Meal points may be used for Shabbat Dinners served at the St. Louis Hillel Center.
 
Fraternity Plan This plan is limited to residents of on-campus fraternities.
 
Off-Campus Plan This plan is the minimum required for those students residing off-campus or at Millbrook Apartments, University Apartments, or at home.
