Kosher Meal Plan 2007-2008

Washington University offers its student meal plan as an all points or "declining balance" program. Students may choose one of four Kosher meal plan options priced at 15% over the comparable standard residential (non-kosher) meal plans. The price difference reflects the additional expense of kosher food preparation. Kosher food is prepared under rabbinic supervision from the Vaad Hoeir of St. Louis.

Dinners are provided in Center Court and at St. Louis Hillel Center. Pre-packed Kosher foods also available at various locations on campus. Additionally, participants in a Kosher Meal Plan receive a 30% discount at the register on all Kosher food prepacks.

Students on one of the Kosher Meal plans receive:

  • Special prices on Shabbat Dinners at St. Louis Hillel Center.
  • Special prices on hot meals at Center Court
  • Discounts (30%) on "prepacks" available at many WU Dining Services locations.
  • Kosher Grab-a-Bite: 2100 points $3680 annual cost
Kosher Meal Manager: 2650 points $4360 annual cost
*Kosher Square Meal Deal: 2780 points $4520 annual cost
*Kosher Meals Plus: 2990 points $4780 annual cost
*Kosher Bountiful Plan: 3200 points $5040 annual cost
    Kosher Off-Campus: 355 points $600 annual cost

*First Year students are required to purchase either the Kosher Square Meal Deal, Kosher Meals Plus, or Kosher Bountiful Plan because meal times with friends are important to connecting them with the University community and in contributing to their social development.

Meal points are allocated on a semester basis. This assists students budget their meal plan points. Points not used during the Fall Semester carry-over to the Spring Semester. Points not used by the end of the academic year will be forfeited.

Students needing to purchase additional Kosher Meal Points may do so at any time during the year through WebSTAC, or at the Residential Life Center.

Points may be used only for food and beverage purchases in Bear Mart and Millbrook Market.

The sale of points between or among students is limited to a one-time transaction with a $150 minimum and a $15 transaction fee. Students may still purchase food or beverage items for friends with their meal card.

Evening Dinner An evening dinner is offered in Center Court from 5:30-8:30 pm Sunday through Thursday. No reservations are required. An additional charge is applied to students who do not particpate in the Kosher Meal Plan.
